Transportation has gained a lot of importance due to globalization. The whole world being treated as one big market, people started importing and exporting goods to and from foreign countries.
Transportation of nonperishable items is easy compared to the perishable ones.

Perishable goods need proper packaging, proper ventilation, power supply, and temperature control systems for their transportation. Modern customers need precise processes and innovative tools that can transport their shipments around the world with various temperature changes. These temperature control logistics are a part of what we call ‘cold chain’. They also include the refrigerated trucks that are adjusted as per the need for the items. These products include fruits, drugs, flowers, meat and poultry, seafood etc.

Rising pollution and increasing effects of global warming are contributing factors that give rise to new diseases. Many scientists all over the world, research on them and develop new medicines. These drugs are then circulated all over the world whenever, and wherever they are needed by people. They need to be transported with utmost care. These industries demand specific temperature control transports that will carry these drugs safely with maintained temperatures and proper packaging, which would avoid the drugs from getting spoilt.

One has to spend a lot of money on renting or hiring a fleet with temperature control. Only large companies who include transportation as a vital part of their work prefer buying these logistics. Small-scale firms rent such services from a company that is specialized in such temperature-specific products. These specialized companies focus on product distribution. Since they have many such clients, the cost is not an issue for them. Although it looks simple, it involves many complex issues. For example, fresh fruits that are needed to be delivered to a different country have to be packed and stored in a warehouse before transportation. It is a must that these warehouses are temperature controlled. As such warehouses are extremely expensive; they must be packed full for their expenses recovery. Seasonal items are also to be checked because, during the offseason, the warehouse may be empty and unable to recover the costs, while during the season they might require extra storage.

Hence, the business of temperature control logistics is very challenging. One cannot be careless in handling such goods because a single mistake can spoil the whole batch of goods.
